학습 자료 둘러보기 →The immediate priority to reduce intracranial pressure (ICP) is to promote cerebral venous outflow. Position the patient with the head of bed elevated to 30 degrees and the head in a neutral midline alignment. This prevents jugular vein compression and utilizes gravity to drain venous blood from the brain.
Avoid hip flexion >90 degrees, tight cervical collars, or extreme neck rotation, as these can impede venous return and spike ICP. Maintain a straight line from the head to the trunk.
Do not place the patient flat or in Trendelenburg. These positions increase intrathoracic pressure and reduce venous drainage, directly elevating ICP. Ensure the head is not tilted or turned.
