학습 자료 둘러보기 →In any solid organ transplant recipient, a new fever (e.g., temperature of 101.2°F / 38.4°C) with chills is a medical emergency until proven otherwise. This presentation is highly suspicious for sepsis due to their pharmacologically suppressed immune system.
Immediate interventions include obtaining blood cultures, initiating a septic workup (urinalysis, chest X-ray), and notifying the transplant team. Do not delay care to manage less acute issues like mild hypertension or gradual weight gain.
A low threshold for suspicion is critical; a seemingly minor temperature elevation can rapidly progress to septic shock in an immunocompromised host. Classic signs of infection may be masked.
