학습 자료 둘러보기 →For a suspected or confirmed anterior shoulder dislocation, the immediate nursing action is to immobilize the arm in its presenting position using a sling and swathe. Movement before stabilization risks further injury to the axillary nerve and brachial plexus.
Perform a thorough neurovascular assessment immediately after immobilization. Check radial and ulnar pulses, capillary refill, and motor/sensory function. Specifically test the axillary nerve via sensation over the lateral deltoid ("regimental badge" area).
Never attempt active or passive range of motion before reduction. Document baseline neurovascular status clearly to monitor for deterioration, as a change may indicate developing compartment syndrome or vascular compromise.
