학습 자료 둘러보기 →The hallmark of an anterior shoulder dislocation is the loss of the normal rounded deltoid contour, creating a squared-off appearance. The patient will hold the arm in slight abduction and external rotation.
This position minimizes tension on the torn anterior capsule. Any attempt to adduct or internally rotate the arm causes severe pain and muscle spasm. Always assess distal neurovascular status, specifically the axillary nerve (sensation over deltoid) and radial pulse.
Do not confuse this with a posterior dislocation, where the arm is locked in internal rotation and adduction. A posterior dislocation is easily missed on standard X-rays; a Y-view or axillary view is essential for diagnosis.
