This symptom indicates active neuroaxonal injury from microtubule disruption. A measurable biomarker, neurofilament light chain (NfL), is released during this damage. Report any paresthesia immediately to prevent progression to motor weakness, loss of deep tendon reflexes, or foot drop.
Do not dismiss patient reports of tingling as minor. Early intervention is critical to prevent irreversible nerve damage, falls, and loss of fine motor function. This is a dose-limiting toxicity that must be communicated to the provider immediately.
