These personality states involve marked discontinuities in sense of self and agency, accompanied by related alterations in affect, behavior, consciousness, and memory.
DID auditory hallucinations are typically experienced as internal voices (e.g., alters conversing), not the external commanding voices common in schizophrenia. Do not misattribute grandiose delusions or global cognitive decline to DID.
