Perform CPT before meals or at least 1.5 hours after eating to prevent aspiration. Administer prescribed bronchodilators prior to treatment to open airways and enhance secretion clearance.
Supplemental oxygen is a supportive measure; applying it without clearing the airway may not resolve the underlying V/Q mismatch. Never perform CPT on a patient with untreated pneumothorax or active hemoptysis.
