학습 자료 둘러보기 →In the first 48–72 hours after surgery, the stoma is edematous and its blood supply is fragile. The priority assessment is stoma color. A healthy stoma is bright red or rose pink and moist.
A dusky, purple, or black stoma indicates stomal ischemia, a critical complication that can rapidly progress to necrosis. This requires immediate reporting to the surgeon.
Never apply firm pressure around the stoma. This can compromise the delicate mesenteric blood supply. Also, ensure the appliance opening is 2–3 mm larger than the stoma to prevent mechanical injury.
