학습 자료 둘러보기 →Suspect SVC syndrome in a patient with lung cancer who presents with facial swelling, distended neck veins, and dyspnea. This results from obstruction of the superior vena cava by tumor compression or thrombus.
Immediate priorities are assessing the airway and breathing. Venous congestion can rapidly progress to laryngeal edema and cerebral hypoxia, causing life-threatening airway compromise.
Do not delay emergency interventions for diagnostic imaging. Elevate the head of the bed and administer oxygen. Avoid upper extremity IV access due to impaired venous return.
