학습 자료 둘러보기 →The clinical triad of delirium tremens (DTs) is severe agitation, global confusion/disorientation, and perceptual disturbances (characteristically visual hallucinations). This reflects a neurological emergency from severe GABA/glutamate imbalance.
DTs typically develops 48–96 hours after the last drink and carries a mortality rate of up to 5% if untreated. Immediate ICU admission and high-dose benzodiazepines are standard.
Do not confuse isolated hallucinations or mild confusion with DTs. The key differentiator is the combination of severe disorientation with profound autonomic instability (severe hypertension, tachycardia). This requires immediate intervention to prevent cardiovascular collapse.
