학습 자료 둘러보기 →The primary treatment for a child with accommodative esotropia is full correction of the underlying hyperopic refractive error with eyeglasses or contact lenses. This relaxes accommodation and eliminates the stimulus for over-convergence.
A cycloplegic refraction must be performed to determine the true refractive error. Prescribe the full hyperopic correction to maximize alignment. If the eyes are aligned with glasses, surgery is not indicated.
Do not proceed directly to patching or surgery. Patching treats amblyopia and is an adjunct, not a primary alignment treatment. Surgery is reserved for the non-accommodative portion of the deviation after maximal optical correction has been achieved.
