학습 자료 둘러보기 →The priority discharge teaching for a child with vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) is double voiding. This technique ensures complete bladder emptying by having the child void, relax for 15-30 seconds, and then attempt to void again.
Double voiding eliminates residual urine, which acts as a reservoir for bacteria. In VUR, this stagnant urine can be refluxed back to the kidneys during the next void, causing pyelonephritis and renal scarring.
Instruct parents to avoid having the child hold urine for long periods, as urinary stasis increases intravesical pressure and infection risk. Adequate fluid intake should be encouraged, not restricted.
