학습 자료 둘러보기 →A lucid interval followed by vomiting is a classic red flag for an evolving epidural hematoma. This finding indicates rising intracranial pressure (ICP) and requires immediate reporting before rapid neurological decline occurs.
In pediatric patients, the earliest signs of increased ICP are often vomiting and a change in level of consciousness. Do not wait for Cushing's triad (bradycardia, hypertension, irregular respirations), as these are late and ominous findings.
A single episode of vomiting might be attributed to concussion, but repeated vomiting (more than 2 episodes) or vomiting that occurs after a lucid period is a neurosurgical emergency. Prepare for urgent CT scan and possible craniotomy.
