학습 자료 둘러보기 →In infants under 2 years, atopic dermatitis typically presents on the face, specifically the cheeks and forehead. The primary lesions are dry, scaly, erythematous patches with intense pruritus, reflecting underlying skin barrier dysfunction.
The distribution is age-dependent; infants often have extensor surface and facial involvement, whereas older children and adults show flexural predominance. Diagnosis is clinical, based on morphology and history.
Do not confuse with impetigo, which presents with vesicles and honey-colored crusts, or tinea corporis, which features annular plaques with central clearing. A diaper rash distribution is atypical for atopic dermatitis.
