Perform a Seidel test using a fluorescein strip to check for leaking aqueous humor. A positive sign appears as a clear rivulet diluting the dark orange dye. Do not apply pressure to the globe during inspection.
Never check visual acuity by having the patient squeeze eyelids, irrigate the eye, or apply direct pressure until an OGI is ruled out. These actions increase intraocular pressure (IOP) and can cause extrusion of intraocular contents. Protect the eye with a rigid shield immediately.
