학습 자료 둘러보기 →The classic triad of retinal detachment includes photopsia (flashing lights), a sudden increase in floaters, and a curtain-like shadow or loss of peripheral vision. These symptoms arise from vitreous traction and loss of retinal function.
Differentiation is critical: painless vision loss with positive visual phenomena (flashes) and a progressive shadow strongly suggests retinal detachment. In contrast, acute angle-closure glaucoma typically presents with severe eye pain, headache, nausea, and halos around lights.
A retinal detachment is a medical emergency. Immediate intervention is needed to preserve vision. Instruct the patient to avoid sudden eye movements and arrange for urgent ophthalmologic evaluation. Document the exact time of symptom onset.
