학습 자료 둘러보기 →A patient reporting a curtain, shadow, or veil moving across the visual field is the pathognomonic symptom of retinal detachment (RD). This sensation corresponds to the advancing edge of the detached retina.
RD is typically painless. The classic triad of warning signs includes sudden onset of flashes (photopsia), a shower of floaters, and the curtain-like visual field defect (scotoma). If the macula detaches, central vision is lost.
Immediate ophthalmology referral is critical. To preserve macular function, surgical repair should ideally occur within 24 to 48 hours of symptom onset. Position the patient to keep the detached area dependent, limiting fluid spread.
