학습 자료 둘러보기 →The hallmark of nephrotic syndrome is a deranged glomerular filtration barrier leading to massive protein loss. The defining assessment triad includes proteinuria (usually >3.5 g/day), hypoalbuminemia (serum albumin <3.5 g/dL), and generalized edema.
Edema is often the presenting symptom, starting periorbitally and progressing to dependent areas. Hyperlipidemia and lipiduria are also common due to compensatory hepatic lipoprotein synthesis.
Do not confuse with nephritic syndrome, which presents with hematuria, hypertension, and oliguria. Nephrotic urine typically has a frothy appearance due to high protein content, not a cola-colored appearance.
