학습 자료 둘러보기 →In Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, the airway is the highest priority. Epithelial necrosis can extend to the respiratory tract, causing tracheobronchial sloughing and acute obstruction.
Assess for early signs of compromise: dyspnea, stridor, hoarseness, and tachypnea. Have emergency airway equipment, including a fiberoptic bronchoscope, immediately available at the bedside.
Do not delay airway intervention for skin or wound care. Oropharyngeal involvement may make oral intake unsafe and mask the severity of internal airway edema. Prophylactic intubation should be considered early before the airway becomes difficult to manage.
