학습 자료 둘러보기 →By 6 months of age, the window for spontaneous testicular descent has closed. If both testicles are absent from the scrotum and cannot be palpated in the inguinal canal, it is a urological emergency.
The primary concern is ruling out anorchia (vanishing testes syndrome) or a disorder of sexual development (DSD). Do not delay referral to wait for possible descent.
Do not confuse this with a normal cremasteric reflex where testicles move with temperature. Bilateral non-palpable testes require an immediate endocrinologic and urologic workup, including hormonal studies and imaging.
