학습 자료 둘러보기 →For a conscious child with a suspected partial airway obstruction (effective cough, stridor), the safest initial intervention is to position the child upright and encourage coughing. The cough reflex is the most effective mechanism for expelling the foreign body.
Simultaneously, the nurse must prepare for immediate medical intervention. This includes alerting the rapid response team, ensuring emergency airway equipment (e.g., suction, laryngoscope) is at the bedside, and preparing for an emergency bronchoscopy.
Do not perform blind finger sweeps, place the child in a Trendelenburg position, or agitate the child with unnecessary procedures. If the cough becomes ineffective or the child loses consciousness, immediately initiate age-appropriate basic life support (BLS) maneuvers.
