학습 자료 둘러보기 →For a conscious child older than 1 year with a severe foreign body airway obstruction, indicated by ineffective cough, aphonia, or cyanosis, perform abdominal thrusts (Heimlich maneuver) without delay.
Stand or kneel behind the child. Place a fist with the thumb side against the child's abdomen, just above the umbilicus and well below the xiphoid process. Grasp your fist with the other hand and deliver quick, inward and upward thrusts.
Continue thrusts until the object is expelled or the child becomes unresponsive. If unresponsiveness occurs, immediately begin CPR, starting with chest compressions, and look for the object in the mouth before giving breaths.
Never perform blind finger sweeps on a child, as this can push the foreign body deeper into the airway. Do not delay intervention to call for help first; if alone, perform 5 cycles of back blows/chest thrusts (for infants) or abdominal thrusts (for children) before calling emergency services.
