Immediate action is required for findings like pale, cool skin, capillary refill greater than 3 seconds, and patient reports of numbness or tingling. These indicate arterial insufficiency and nerve ischemia.
Do not wait for pulselessness, a late sign. Pain unrelieved by medication and out of proportion to the injury is a critical early indicator. Prepare for immediate cast bivalving and notify the provider.
