학습 자료 둘러보기 →The classic triad of FES includes respiratory distress (tachypnea, hypoxemia), neurologic changes (confusion, restlessness), and a petechial rash on the chest, axillae, or conjunctiva. This is a medical emergency most often occurring 12 to 72 hours after a long bone or pelvic fracture.
The priority nursing action is to immediately notify the healthcare provider and prepare for emergency intervention. Definitive management is supportive care, focusing on maintaining oxygenation and ventilation, often requiring high-flow oxygen or mechanical ventilation.
Do not delay notification to perform independent nursing interventions like deep breathing exercises. FES can progress rapidly to respiratory failure and death, even in patients who initially appear stable. Early respiratory support is critical.
