학습 자료 둘러보기 →In lactose intolerance, a non-immunologic reaction, symptoms like abdominal cramping, bloating, and loose, watery stools typically occur 1–2 hours after dairy intake. This delay reflects the time for lactose to reach the colon and undergo bacterial fermentation.
In contrast, an IgE-mediated cow milk protein allergy (CMPA) often presents rapidly, within minutes to 1 hour, with symptoms like urticaria, angioedema, vomiting, or respiratory distress. Delayed non-IgE CMPA can cause GI symptoms but is not immediate and may include blood-streaked stools.
Constipation is rarely a primary symptom of lactose intolerance; the osmotic load from undigested lactose almost always causes loose stools. Immediate skin or respiratory symptoms after dairy strongly suggest an allergic emergency, not an enzyme deficiency.
