학습 자료 둘러보기 →Cyanosis and choking during feeding constitute a life-threatening aspiration event. The open communication between oral and nasal cavities allows formula to enter the nasopharynx and airway directly. This risk is magnified in infants with associated Pierre Robin sequence, where micrognathia and glossoptosis further compromise the airway. Immediate cessation of feeding and airway support are required.
Expected feeding challenges include difficulty latching, prolonged feeding times, nasal regurgitation, and frequent spitting up due to aerophagia. These require adaptive strategies such as specialized nipples, upright positioning, and paced feeding. In contrast, choking with cyanosis signals active airway invasion and must never be dismissed as routine feeding difficulty.
