학습 자료 둘러보기 →The hands of healthcare workers are the primary vector for pathogen dissemination. Performing hand hygiene before and after each patient contact directly breaks the mode of transmission link in the chain of infection, removing transient microorganisms.
Adhere to the WHO's Five Moments for Hand Hygiene: before touching a patient, before a clean/aseptic procedure, after body fluid exposure risk, after touching a patient, and after touching patient surroundings. This practice is a core component of Standard Precautions and applies to all patients, not just those with confirmed infections.
Gloves are not a substitute for hand hygiene. Perform hand hygiene immediately before donning gloves and after removing them to prevent contamination during glove removal. Alcohol-based hand rubs are preferred for routine decontamination unless hands are visibly soiled or after caring for patients with C. difficile infection, which requires soap and water.
