학습 자료 둘러보기 →The primary mode of transmission for bacterial conjunctivitis is direct contact with infected ocular secretions. Contaminated objects, or fomites like washcloths and tissues, are a major vector. Use separate, single-use cloths for each eye and dispose of them immediately to prevent cross-contamination.
Perform hand hygiene with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub before and after every patient contact, even if gloves are worn. The pathogen can survive on hands and surfaces, making this the single most critical step in breaking the chain of infection.
Never use the same bottle of eye drops or ointment for both the infected and non-infected eye. If a separate bottle is not available, the tip must never touch the eye or eyelashes to avoid contaminating the medication reservoir.
