학습 자료 둘러보기 →The highest priority for a patient with a hip fracture awaiting surgery is to maintain proper body alignment and immobilize the affected extremity. This prevents movement of sharp bone fragments that can lacerate the femoral artery, vein, and nerve.
Uncontrolled movement of the fracture site can lead to neurovascular compromise, causing hemorrhage, hematoma, or nerve palsy. This poses an immediate risk of limb-threatening ischemia and permanent sensory or motor loss.
Never attempt to move or turn the patient without first ensuring the affected leg is fully supported and in traction or alignment. A sudden spike in pain during any repositioning is a critical sign of fracture site shearing and requires immediate cessation of movement and reassessment.
