학습 자료 둘러보기 →Acne vulgaris is a disorder of the pilosebaceous unit. The most characteristic finding is a combination of non-inflammatory lesions (open and closed comedones) and inflammatory lesions (papules, pustules) on sebaceous gland-rich areas like the face, chest, and upper back.
The primary pathogenic events are follicular hyperkeratinization (forming a microcomedone), increased sebum production driven by androgens, and proliferation of Cutibacterium acnes, which triggers an inflammatory cascade.
Assess for psychological distress, as even mild acne can significantly impact an adolescent's self-esteem and quality of life. Do not mistake deep, tender nodules or cysts for simple pustules, as these indicate severe nodulocystic acne with a high risk of scarring.
