학습 자료 둘러보기 →The most specific historical clue for a latex allergy is a reported reaction to banana, avocado, kiwi, or chestnut. This is known as latex-fruit syndrome, caused by IgE antibody cross-reactivity between latex proteins and similar fruit allergens.
Prevalence is high; 30-50% of latex-allergic individuals have this cross-reactivity. Always ask directly about these specific fruits, not just general food allergies, when latex allergy is suspected.
Do not confuse with shellfish/iodine allergy, which is a separate risk factor for radiocontrast media reactions. A family history of atopy is a nonspecific risk factor and does not confirm latex sensitization.
