The sighted guide method requires the nurse to walk slightly ahead of the client. The client holds the nurse's arm just above the elbow.
This position allows the client to feel the nurse's body movements, providing proprioceptive feedback to anticipate changes like steps, turns, or curbs.
Never walk behind the client and push, or walk directly beside them, as these methods eliminate anticipatory cues and significantly increase the risk of falls.
