학습 자료 둘러보기 →The priority intervention for a client with OCD whose rituals cause skin breakdown (red, cracked, bleeding hands) is to establish a structured schedule with gradual reduction of the ritual time. This is the foundation of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).
Abrupt cessation is contraindicated as it can trigger extreme anxiety and psychological distress. Instead, negotiate a stepwise delay or reduction, such as extending the time between rituals from 60 to 75 minutes or reducing the duration from 30 to 25 minutes.
Do not forcibly stop the ritual. The goal is to help the client learn that anxiety diminishes without the compulsion, which requires a therapeutic, collaborative approach to prevent further trauma.
