학습 자료 둘러보기 →A personal history of febrile seizures or a temperature of ≥105°F (40.5°C) after a prior DTaP dose is a precaution, not a contraindication, per ACIP guidelines. The benefits of continued protection against pertussis outweigh the risks.
The most appropriate nursing action is to administer the next scheduled DTaP and provide anticipatory guidance on fever management. This includes advising the prophylactic use of acetaminophen or ibuprofen at the time of vaccination and for the following 24 hours.
Do not delay or withhold DTaP for this history. The highest risk for severe pertussis is in infancy. A true contraindication involves a severe allergic reaction or encephalopathy not attributable to another cause within 7 days of a prior dose.
