Advanced disease presents with invasive symptoms: severe pelvic pain, lower back pain radiating to the legs (sciatic nerve involvement), and unilateral leg edema. These indicate tumor extension beyond the cervix.
Do not confuse foul-smelling discharge and fever with cervical cancer; this presentation is more consistent with an infectious process like pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). Early cancer is often asymptomatic, reinforcing the need for routine Pap smear screening.
